Your financial support of AVID will further our work on
increasing access to a college education for all students.
A great number of AVID students become the first in their family
to go to college despite encountering multiple linguistic, cultural, and
socioeconomic barriers. No one AVID student’s journey toward success is
exactly the same as another’s but they share the common storyline of
tremendous determination, hard work, faith and triumph in the face of struggle,
adversity, and sometimes, tragedy. So many of our AVID students embody the
American dream, so many have found strength from one another and in turn, have
inspired all of us.
The AVID program has been making the college dream a reality for
thousands of students for nearly three decades. At a time when 30 percent of
all students drop out of high school and only 35 percent ever attend college,
98 percent of AVID graduates plan to attend college.
Currently, AVID is providing 320,000 students the tools to excel
academically and prepare for college success in 4,000 schools in 45 states and
15 countries.
The challenges we face in an increasingly global society coupled
with the persistent crisis in the educational system make our mission more

example, in San Diego, the CLASS (Corporate Leaders Advocating Success Skills)
program places business leaders directly into high school classrooms to
illustrate the value of interpersonal skills in a workplace setting through
role-playing, discussions and mock interviews. Volunteers share their
industries and what it takes to be a success.

Imagine Your Impact
- A $100 donation... helps support the tutoring
component of the AVID elective by placing the tutorial support curriculum pack
(the resource guide and activity guide) into AVID classrooms.
- A $250 donation... helps support schoolwide teaching
and learning, by placing into classrooms, materials focused on AVID
methodologies (writing, inquiry, collaboration, and reading) in English,
mathematics, history/social science, English Language Learners, world languages
and science.
- A $500 donation... pays for a school's one-year
subscription to AVID's newest curriculum tool AVID Weekly, an internet
delivered program that helps teach critical reading skills to students.
- A $750 donation... helps send one teacher to a
week-long AVID Summer Institute where he/she will learn innovative AVID
methodologies and practical skills necessary to create college-bound students
year after year.
- A $1,000 donation... helps provide materials, such as
curriculum to an AVID site, in addition to helping send a teacher to a
week-long AVID Summer Institute.
- A $2,500 donation... helps:
- Send a teacher to a week-long AVID Summer Institute,
- Provide materials to an AVID school site, and
- Fund scholarships for outstanding AVID students.
Low socio-economic status is a challenge that many of our AVID students
face. With your donation, you will be helping students academically and
financially prepare for college.
- A $5,000 donation... helps:
- Send a teacher to a week-long AVID Summer Institute,
- Provide materials to an AVID school site,
- Fund scholarships for outstanding AVID students, and
- Support professional development training for teachers
throughout the year.
Your donation will allow AVID to continue to
impact students and help to train site team members throughout the year. The
development of strong AVID school site teams has a direct effect on the quality
of education that AVID students receive.
- A $10,000+ donation... helps:
- Send a teacher to a week-long AVID Summer Institute,
- Provide materials to an AVID school site,
- Fund scholarships for outstanding AVID students,
- Support professional development training for teachers
throughout the year, and
- Reach more students through AVID programs and
initiatives.
One of the keys to increasing graduation rates and closing
the achievement gap is through targeted AVID programs and initiatives. Your
contribution will help support programs such as the African American Male
Initiative, Juntos Latino Summit, AVID English Language Learners Project and
more
